Sledding and Snow Cream

It's snowing and I'm going to make snow cream! I can't wait to go sledding tomorrow. I know I'm way too old for that but I don't care. I giggle and scream all the way down the hill like a little kid. I'm so glad we don't have neighbors close to us who can witness it. That means I can sled and laugh and giggle with my son to my heart's content. Then, we'll come inside for some hot chocolate and a gigantic pot of soup. What a fun day! I can't wait.

Eavesdroppers

Are they dangerous?

This week, I heard that a relative of mine has some kind of scanner that allows him to listen to, and record, people's cell phone conversations. He has no job, so all he does all day is spy on his ex-wife, girlfriend, sister, mother, cousins, and neighbors. The person who told me was one of the people being spied on. She had recently figured it out and wanted me to know. So, I contacted two of the others to warn them. Now, the interesting part was their reactions. They didn't respond by saying, "No, he wouldn't do that." Or, "No, that's crazy." They responded by saying it made sense. All three of them, named specific incidences where he knew things that had been said in private phone conversations with people that he either doesn't know or doesn't talk to. All three said that suddenly, it all made sense.

I've only seen things like this on TV where the person later attacked the people he was spying on. Is that what this is? Is this obsessive behavior? Is this person dangerous or is he just a pest?

Grand standers

Hi! My name is Maggie. Well, of course my name isn't Maggie. That's just the name I'm going to use. I made the mistake of using my real name on another site and wished I hadn't.

The first thing I want to talk about is grand standers. I don't understand them and I would like for someone to explain them to me. You know the ones I'm talking about. They go to every public event and make their presence known. They don't ever seem to notice you, even when they are talking to you. It really is all about them. Actually, I take that back. They don't talk to you. They talk at you. They seem to position themselves in the most prominent place at every church or school function. They rudely stand up and walk in front of a crowd of people, making a big to do of it. It doesn't matter that they are interrupting and getting in every one's way. That's the point. If they are front and center, everyone will see them. They are loud. They are so loud that everyone knows who they are, but noone really knows them.

That leads me to believe that either, they feel they need to hide who they really are, or they don't even know themselves. Their lives are centered around the image they are trying to portray.

I have recently met two such women and they perplex me. I want to know what drives them. Generally, if I can understand another person's annoying behavior, it doesn't bother me as bad.

Now, don't state the obvious. Yes, I'm sure they each have a low self-esteem. I have a low self-esteem, but I don't act like that. I want something more concrete. What could possibly make a person need to be seen to that degree?

Oh, and, neither of these women are overly attractive. Don't get me wrong, they aren't exactly unattractive but they aren't those beautiful women that need to be seen because it's all that they have going for them.

Any thoughts?
